Here is a record of all that I have watched, read, and played so far this year. It took me a minute to put together, digging through notes, stubs and scraps of memory. It is an attempt, modest but necessary, to track the contours of my emotional states, the genres that recur and the works to which I inevitably return.

Furthermore, I wanted to track my time, by which I mean my attention. I’m very stingy with it, and logging it shows me where it holds, where it drifts, where it fades. I track my runs, my workouts, my money, what I eat, a torrent of my thoughts, and this naturally seemed like the next logical act.

Bedtime rotation — Zodiac, Mindhunter, The Game, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Malgudi Days, The Insider, The X-Files Series, Silence of the Lambs, True Detective (S1). 30-minute timer. Lights out and I'm gone like a newborn. Every night, all year round.

When it comes to music, I still cling to the resonances that carved and molded my psyche. I don’t actively track the latest soundscapes. If I find something, it’s by happenstance. The masters left their echoes and I’m still entrenched in them, sifting through every fragment, trying to understand where I end and the rest of humanity begins… and I… I’ll admit it… நான் இன்னும் இசைஞானியின் பாடல்களில் தான் வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறேன்.
